Catalyst Challenge Fund

Applications for the 2017-18 Catalyst Challenge Fund open on 23/11/17

Arts & Health South West is launching its Catalyst Challenge Fund, supported by Arts Council England.

Three selected organisations will be challenged to raise £2000 via individual giving, which AHSW will match with a £2000 Catalyst Fund. This means that organisations taking part have an opportunity to raise up to £4000, for whatever they choose (core work, i.e. general organisation costs and project work are both eligible)

How it works: Organisations can submit a ‘Case for Support’ to bid for £2000. From the ‘Case for Support’ submissions, three organisations will be selected to take part in the Challenge Fund, where they will be challenged to raise  £2000 through individual giving. Arts & Health South West will work with each organisation to raise this further £2000. AHSW will match the funds raised £1 for £1 up to a maximum of £2000.

Key dates

  • ‘Case for Support’ Applications open on Arts & Health South West’s website: 23rd November 2017
  • Information session and Q&A at AHSW Annual Conference: 24th November 2017
  • Deadline for applications: 31st January 2018
  • Organisations notified of results: 16th February 2018

Further information

We are inviting organisations to submit a Case for Support for their work. This can be for ongoing work or a new project. The Case for Support should be no longer than 3 A4 sides and can include images. You should structure your case for support under the following headings:

  1. About our organisation
  2. Why our work is important and the need for what we do
  3. What difference we make
  4. How we involve beneficiaries
  5. How we will use the money if we are successful

You will be asked to make a commitment to helping raise £2000 in match funding for your project. We will support this process by profiling your work on our website and enabling individuals to give money online. We will promote your case for support via our networks which include 2000 members receiving our regular ebulletins. We will ask you to promote it with your own networks. AHSW will contribute £1 for £1 up to a maximum of £2000.  If we raise more than £2000 for your project you will receive all the funds, but we will only match them up to £2000.

In late November we will be appointing a Fundraising Development professional to support AHSW’s fundraising, including this project.

The three organisations for the Challenge Fund will be selected by:

  • Alex Coulter, Director of Arts & Health South West
  • Mary Chamberlain, AHSW Trustee, fundraising professional and creative practitioner
  • AHSW Fundraising and Development Officer
