Medicine Unboxed: Frontiers

22 & 23 November 2014
Cheltenham

Medicine Unboxed aims to inspire debate and cultural change in medicine.

Mission: Medicine Unboxed engages the public and front-line NHS staff with a view of medicine that is infused and elaborated by the humanities. Contributors include artists, writers, the clergy, poets, philosophers, lawyers, linguists, musicians, theatre, ethicists, academics and doctors. The results are thought-provoking, inspiring, sometimes funny and often moving.

“We will explore the fact of human life and consciousness within the world of other life and lives; our shared human matter and frailty; the ocean, sky and land; the ground for moral thought; the migrant, outsider and underprivileged; the lines that separate life from death; the flesh and margins of our bodies and minds; the separation between suffering and illness; the interface between the individual and society and the frontier between imagination and fact in our understanding of humanity, illness and medicine.”
