Sensing Movement: A Dance, Health and Wellbeing Symposium, Dublin

This one-day symposium will focus on connection, community and sustainable dance and health practice, supporting health practitioners, movers, teachers, students and those searching to connect in new ways through the moving body.

Sensing Movement: A Dance, Health and Wellbeing Symposium will focus on crafting connection, building community and sustaining dance and health practice.

This symposium offers the opportunity for health practitioners, movers, teachers, students and those searching to connect in new ways through the moving body. 

 

The Symposium kindly funded by South Dublin County Council and supported by the Meath Foundation will comprise of a series of movement workshops, panel discussions, short presentations and film screenings from diverse voices including:

  • David Leventhal (Programme Director, Dance for Parkinsons Disease, Mark Morris Dance Group, Brooklyn, New York), 
  • Miranda Tufnell (UK based highly experienced dance maker and artist working in the field of healthcare - recently published her insightful book: When I Open My Eyes), 
  • Dr. Jenny Elliot (Chief Executive at ArtsCare - a unique Arts and Health Charity based in Northern Ireland), 
  • Ailish Claffey (Dance Artist in Residence Tallaght Hospital), 
  • Deirdre Glenfield (Visual Artist in Residence Tallaght Hospital), 
  • Hazel Hodgins (Dance Ireland), Carolann Courtney(Kildare Arts and Health Specialist).

 

The symposium is jointly curated by Alison Baker Kerrigan(Programme Manager for The National Centre for Arts and Health), Tallaght Hospital and Ailish Claffey (Movement and Dance Specialist and Dancer in Residence) Tallaght Hospital. The day promises to deliver a wonderful opportunity for all health practitioners, movers, teachers, students and those searching to connect in new ways through the moving body.
