Catalyst Challenge Fund

Applications for the 2017-18 Catalyst Challenge Fund open on 23/11/17

Arts & Health South West has opened applications to its Catalyst Challenge Fund, supported by Arts Council England.

Three selected organisations will be challenged to raise £2000 via individual giving, which AHSW will match with a £2000 Catalyst Fund. This means that organisations taking part have an opportunity to raise up to £4000, for whatever they choose (core work, i.e. general organisation costs and project work are both eligible)

The Fund has been established to:

•Highlight great arts and health projects in the South West

•Encourage individual giving to arts and health projects

•Help the sector find new income streams

•Develop fundraising capacity and skills in our sector

•Enhance AHSW’s understanding of the current need and potential in the sector

How it works:

  1. Organisations register their interest in order to receive an application pack. (Anticipated to be provided in early January.)
  2. Organisations will complete a short application pack, with particualr attention to providing a ‘Case for Support’  bidding for £2000. Learn more about a Case for Support:
  3. From the ‘Case for Support’ submissions, three organisations will be selected to become partner organisations in the Challenge Fund. Selected applicants are anticipated to be notified by 16 February 2018)
  4. Arts & Health South West will work with selected partners to showcase their work and project to support them in raising £2000 from individuals. AHSW will match the funds raised £1 for £1 up to a maximum of £2000. (Funds will be gift eligible but Gift Aid funds will not be matched.)
  5.  Match fund recipients will share learning about individual fundraising with the wider arts & health community with AHSW in autumn 2018.

Further information

We are inviting organisations to submit a Case for Support for their work. This can be for ongoing work or a new project. The Case for Support should be no longer than 3 A4 sides and can include images. You should structure your case for support under the following headings:

  1. About our organisation
  2. Why our work is important and the need for what we do
  3. What difference we make
  4. How we involve beneficiaries
  5. How we will use the money if we are successful

Here are some useful links about the value of and writing a Case for Support:

The three organisations for the Challenge Fund will be selected by:

  • Alex Coulter, Director of Arts & Health South West
  • Mary Chamberlain, AHSW Trustee, fundraising professional and creative practitioner
  • Catherine West, Chief Executive of Significant Seams CIC

The first stage of the application process is to register your interest by emailing catalyst@ahsw.org.uk with the email subject line "Challenge Fund - registering interest". Once this has been logged by AHSW you will be emailed an information/application pack which will guide you through the next steps.
