Storytelling For Health 2 - conference

27th, 28th and 29th June 2019
National Waterfront Museum, Oystermouth Road, Swansea SA1 3RD

The focus of this conference will be to look at how patient experiences are captured, presented and understood through story, with the hope that this will make for some provocative and productive conversations. 

Description

The first day of the conference (Thursday 27th June) will be a postgraduate student day which will take place at The University of South Wales in The Atrium in Cardiff. Delegates from the postgraduate conference will then travel by bus to Swansea where the first event for the main conference will start at 7pm. Please purchase a seperate ticket for this day.

Keynote Performance Peggy Shaw and Lois Weaver, aka renowned performance company Split Britches, will be bringing a new version of their show ‘the RUFF Story’ as the keynote premiere performance on Friday evening https://vimeo.com/98126127

PLUS great evenings with Beyond the Border presents on Thursday evening and People Speak Up on Saturday.

Keynote Speaker Dr Kathryn Mannix has spent her medical career working with people who have incurable, advanced illnesses. Starting in cancer care and changing career to become a pioneer of the new discipline of palliative medicine, she has worked as a palliative care consultant in teams in hospices, hospitals and in patients’ own homes, optimising quality of life even as death is approaching. The conference will also be welcoming speakers from the fields of health, storytelling and policy.
