Why Should We Celebrate Age Through Arts and Heritage?

A development day for creative artists and those who are involved in delivering creative activities for older people in a variety of settings.

  • Exchange of ideas; skills development and skills sharing
  • Developing artist practice at all levels – e.g. beginners to advanced
  • Creating a safe space to air the challenges / opportunities of working with older people
  • Developing informal networks of artists for this work



3 workshops addressing creative ideas and best practice for working with Older People, led by experienced artists/practitioners:

  • Museum collections and creative writing/poetry – using handling collections
  • Music and Performance –
  • Arts and Crafts/Participatory Arts

Lunch and chance to network and meet people working in this field

Presentation from Neil Valentine: experienced musician working with Older people and those living with dementia. 

Celebrating Age concert with Trio Virtuosi! – light classics and music from a variety of styles

Speaker: David Cutler from Baring Foundation, funder of the National Celebrating Age programme
