Living Well Footprints

Living Well Community Mental Health Project

The ‘Living Well’ project aims to use creative arts workshops and more to improve the well-being of local people across Dorset aged 19+ who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and sleep disorders.

The ‘Living Well’ project is delivered by Skills & Learning in partnership with Dorset HealthCare and the Dorset Mental Health Forum.

The project offers learners the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of themselves, their strengths, values and to consider how they may use existing resources to manage in more difficult times.

The project will also provide learners with an opportunity to learn new strategies to enhance and maintain a sense of wellbeing.

All courses will be co-developed and co-delivered by tutors from both Skills & Learning and mental health services and an individual with lived experience of overcoming a mental health condition. In essence, bringing together expertise through profession and expertise through experience.

The courses offered are split across three strands:

  • Living Well Foundation,
  • Living Well Creative and Active,
  • Living Well Refresh.

Living Well Foundation includes courses exploring components to support wellbeing and recovery.

Living Well Creative and Active offers the opportunity to be creative through a range of arts and exercise forms.

Living Well Refresh for those who have left the programme early or wish to top up or recap skills learnt through the foundation course.

In addition to the workshop strands there are also courses available to learners delivered by partners to the project including BCHA, Abilities and EDAS. These courses will also be co-developed and delivered alongside people with lived experience.

Who is eligible?

The courses are aimed at people over the age of 19 years who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, such as low mood, depression and anxiety and who live in Dorset.

How can I get involved?

Learners may also be signposted to additional services including, mental health services, support within their community and the Dorset recovery Education Centre.

Learners will be offered a review appointment to support them with the next steps with their learning.
