Arts and Health Top the Agenda at Somerset's Latest Creative Networking Event.

Health and wellbeing are the focus of Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre’s creative speed networking event on Wednesday 20th September. This dynamic evening offers health and arts professionals an opportunity to forge new relationships, discuss potential projects and launch a new arts and health network for Somerset.

There is strong evidence that taking part in creative projects improves both physical and mental health and helps tackle social isolation. Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre already has a reputation for programming a wide range of events exploring disability, mental health, and aging. It also has a proven track record in running popular Creative Speed Networking events.

This free networking event on 20th September in Taunton includes complimentary drinks and refreshments, an opening address by Alex Coulter from Arts and Health South West, short presentations from successful arts and health projects and most importantly, quick-fire networking ‘speed dating-style’.

Partners are given five minutes in which to discuss, debate, dissect and devour some creative ideas before moving on to the next partner. The event will finish with a round up of potential projects and an opportunity to find out about funding opportunities. It is supported by the Clarke Willmott Fund through Somerset Community Foundation.

With half the places already booked, health organisations, community groups, arts organisations and artists are urged to register early to secure a place at the event.

“We’ve already had interest from GP surgeries, mental health charities, day centres and residential homes as well as a host of creative practioners offering everything from dance and drama workshops to visual arts, sound healing, storytelling and writing projects” says Tacchi-Morris’s Project Co-ordinator Caroline Green. We hope the networking event will be a springboard to a new arts on prescription scheme in Somerset and a huge increase in arts and health projects across the county”
