Art Therapy Group in Bristol Open to New Members

This Art Therapy Group in Bristol aims to provide a safe, supportive and facilitated space to creatively explore issues and find out more about yourself. Wednesday evenings 7-9pm ongoing throughout the year, read on for details.

This Art Therapy Group group runs on Wednesday evenings for 2 hours, from 7pm until 9pm. A range of art materials will be provided.

The group is based at PACTS Studio, Cato Street, Mivart St Studios, Easton, BRISTOL, BS5 6JF.

Who is the group for?

It is available to anyone aged 18 or over and suitable for anyone with mild to moderate mental health concerns, and/or anyone who could just do with a safe creative space to explore whatever issues that might be coming up for them, such as relationship difficulties, change, loss, etc., or who simply want to take some time to find out a bit more about themselves. No previous art experience or skill is necessary.

More information about the group

The group facilitators are two experienced art therapists who offer long term group therapy, fees for which would be payable monthly, spread over 12 months to help make it more affordable.  Breaks will be at the usual times in Spring, Summer and Winter. We plan to run this group for 3 years from January 2018. New members can join throughout the year, provided there are spaces.

New members will be encouraged to stay in the group for at least 3 months.  The group may need to keep a short waiting list.

The facilitators aim to provide 35 weekly 2 hour sessions per year at the usual cost of £40 each, but this can be negotiated according to individual circumstances.  The facilitators do not wish to exclude people who are on low incomes. Costs will cover all art materials.

There will be up to 8 people in the group, and possibly a volunteer helper.

If you want to attend the group:

The group will be inviting you and other people who are interested in attending, to meet with the facilitators individually at the venue on a Wednesday evening before the group starts, for 25 minutes, to explain more, discuss expectations and to answer any other questions you may have. This will help to ascertain if this group is right for you at this time. This is a prerequisite for joining the group and is non chargeable.
