Dance, Health and Wellbeing in the South West A report produced
by Dance South West.

Dance and Health Projects from across the South West
A series of case studies submitted to Dance South West from partners across the South West who have used dance as the vehicle to tackle health related issues relevant to their localities. 

Shall We Dance? Final Evaluation ‘Shall We Dance?’ is a project, funded by FEAST and managed by Arts for Health Cornwall and The Works Theatre and Dance Agency. It was developed in order to increase the opportunities for older people to access dance with the aim of improving their holistic health and sense of well being.

Activate Dance Generations Project provided dance activities for 265 people in residential care homes, day care centres, special schools and pre-schools.

One Step Forward Dance and Mental Health Programme Impact Report An impact review of Mean Feet’s dance and mental health project in Somerset 2013.

The Community Arts Therapies (CAT) Project The CAT Project has set up Art therapy, Dance/Movement therapy, Drama therapy and Music therapy projects in studio locations in the Bath and North East Somerset community.

'Celebrating Age and Ambition' This Arts for Health Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (AHFC) project was aimed at engaging older people throughout the county of Cornwall in creative activities, raising awareness of, and stimulating debate on, the talents and capabilities of older people through showcasing the work in contemporary arts venues.

Life Circles in Somerset was a two-year collaborative project between Core Dance and Take Art, aimed at supporting the life-long creativity of older people living in care settings, through innovative, imaginative and inspiring community dance practice. Through sessional activity, training and mentoring, Life Circles has enabled over 200 individuals in care settings in the South West to discover their creativity via physical participation in dance.
