Rising Voices Wessex - Treasurer

Rising Voices Wessex is a charity offering music and singing to people affected by cancer. Participation in music through singing in a choir has been shown to help people to regain confidence, health and wellbeing – and reduce medical dependency.

The charity provides support and information for those affected by the disease, carers and those who have lost a loved one to cancer. There are two choirs -one in Bournemouth and one in Poole.

Applicants for this role would be expected to have an understanding of issues that relate to a diagnosis of cancer and demonstrate a strong commitment to the purpose and continued development of Rising Voices Wessex.

The role of Treasurer on the Trustee board is seen a key to ensuring the charity’s finances are professionally managed in accordance with its aspirations and the regulatory framework required by the charity commission.

The Trustees are collectively responsible for setting the strategic aims and objectives of the charity and ensuring that proper governance arrangements are in place.

Board level experience is desirable but not essential for the role. Senior level experience in accountancy or as a treasurer would be of significant assistance to the Trustee board.
